“Simply put, location changes everything,” said technology writer Mat Honan in a Wired magazine cover story earlier this year. “This one input — our coordinates — has the potential to change all the outputs. Where we shop, who we talk to, what we read, what we search for, where we go — they all change once we merge location and the web.”

Makes a lot of sense, really. I’m actually a bit surprised it has taken this long to start taking these steps.

Facebook statistics show that it has 250 million active users each with an average 120 friends. More than 1 billion photos are uploaded every month by its users, over 70% of whom use applications like games and quizzes in Facebook. Unfortunately, most users don’t know the implications of entering personal information, making friends, and playing games on Facebook.

It never ceases to amaze me how completely ignorant some people are to online privacy. Even if you’re  doing everything possible to safeguard your reputation and privacy this is a useful article to read.
